Customers' needs: At the core of ALCEA's strategy

Since its foundation in 1994, ASSA ABLOY has developed a market-leading portfolio of security products and established a strong presence across various vertical segments, including solutions for critical infrastructure. In 2019, it was strategically decided to partially transition the critical infrastructure offering to Global Solutions, ASSA ABLOY's newly established division.

Early on, the Critical Infrastructure business area’s offering focused on locks and access management, but growing industry demand for more comprehensive solutions - including integrations, software, and services - highlighted the need for a more complete approach. To meet these evolving customer needs, they sought a partner who could expand their expertise and offering, ultimately providing a total security solution and services.

ALCEA enters the world of ASSA ABLOY

In the French town of Villebon-Sur-Yvette, ALCEA was established in 1995. Starting with just one employee, it has steadily grown over the years, welcoming more employees into its fold. Developing at a steady pace, ALCEA became a respected player in the security industry, particularly within the critical infrastructure sector, providing a wide range of solutions. This growth and expertise eventually attracted the attention of ASSA ABLOY, leading to the announcement in 2022 that ALCEA would be acquired and integrated into Global Solutions’ Critical Infrastructure business area.

“ALCEA had the right offering for security management. They owned a security platform, including both hardware and software. Their portfolio also included access control systems, locking solutions, intrusion detection systems, visitor and key management tools, and video management systems, advancing our position as a full solutions provider”, says Jorma Issakainen, SVP and Head of Critical Infrastructure.

In 2024, as part of a strategic brand renewal, ALCEA became the main brand offering solutions from Global Solutions’ Critical Infrastructure business area. The brand renewal marked the start of a broader initiative to position ALCEA as a provider of complete security solutions for critical infrastructure sectors globally.

“By building our own identity and brand we would be able to strengthen our position as a unique total solution provider from ASSA ABLOY as well as ultimately becoming a trusted partner for our target critical infrastructure verticals.”, says Jorma.

Looking to the future, Jorma highlights that the focus for ALCEA is to offer comprehensive solutions to the critical infrastructure market.

“Our goal is to become the brand of reference for the critical infrastructure industry. We want to enhance our offerings and deliver improved services to our customers. We will make sure that life can go on and society can thrive - uninterrupted."

Main solutions offered by ALCEA:

ALCEA’s range of hardware includes keyless, mechanical and electromechanical solutions, electric locks, security doors, door automatics and closers, readers, as well as key management and visitor management solutions. Some examples: ALKEY, NETKEY cabinets, ALCEA GATEWAY, ABLOY CLIQ and BEAT.

In terms of software, ALCEA offers one security management platform with integrated hardware and services called ALWIN. ALWIN integrates access control, visitor management, key management, video management and intrusion detection modules into one platform.

A key item in ALCEA’s offering is the services. Starting from proactive and reactive maintenance, project management, to installation and trainings.
