Every great innovation starts with a story
The story of Global Solutions began in 1974 when lock maker Tor Sørnes heard about a woman being attacked by an intruder in her hotel room. The event inspired him to invent a better door opening system. Two years later, Sørnes introduced VingCard, the world’s first recordable keycard door lock. At the same time, Bjørn Lyng created the world’s first electronic in-room safe, Elsafe. The two joined forces in 1994, to better serve their customers and grow the company.
In 2018 VingCard Elsafe became ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions. Today, we work with much more than just hotels. We’re experts in construction, senior care, self-storage and the marine industry – to name just a few specialisms.
We continue to build upon our heritage brands' reputation and extend our global reach and innovation capability beyond hardware, offering seamless solutions for our client’s specific needs.
